Redmi has confirmed its plans of launching a gaming smartphone — the primary for the corporate. the corporate has also revealed that the phone is going to be launched with MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 1200 SoC, which also happens to be an equivalent chipset it plans to use for the Redmi K40. With the announcement, Redmi now becomes the newest phone maker to announce plans of using the powerful MediaTek chipset for a phone. Earlier, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and Realme have all confirmed plans of launching new smartphones supported by the Dimensity 1200 SoC.

The information about the new phone was revealed by Redmi head Lu Weibing who confirmed that the corporate will launch a minimum of two smartphones with the newest MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. He made the announcement using his official Weibo account, where he confirmed Redmi is gearing up to launch its first gaming smartphone which can offer a flagship-grade e-sports experience. He further added that the phone will accompany an aggressive tag.
While there’s little information about the device, we do know all there’s to understand about the new MediaTek chipset which comes with a number of interesting features. The chipset is that the company’s first 6nm chip and also the primary to use the Cortex-A78 core.
The Dimensity 1200 may be a powerful chip and comes with a configuration of 1+3+4 with an A78 core running at 3.0GHz paired with three more A78 cores at 2.6GHz and 4 more power-efficient A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. The Dimensity 1200 can handle up to 168 Hz displays and also offers a 5-core ISP which may handle camera sensors up to 200 MP. It also comes with staggered HDR support for 4K videos (three exposures are merged into one frame), the dynamic range is increased by 40%.
This chip’s CPU design uses quad-channel memory and dual-channel UFS 3.1 storage with up to 1.7GB/s data throughput and ultra-responsive IO. aside from this, the Dimensity 1200 incorporates Bluetooth 5.2 with LE Isochronous Channels, and new LC3 encoding, enabling Bluetooth LE Audio ready technology with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio.
